Retired military officer facing one count of Malicious Act released on bail for $400 Retired military officer facing one count of Malicious Act released on bail for $400 Monday 26/07/2021 A 63-year-old retired military officer, Seremaia Tuiteci who allegedly condemned the reality of COVID-19 through his Facebook page with the intent to create alarm and public anxiety, has been released on bail for $400 by the Nasinu Magistrates Court. Tuiteci is facing one count of Malicious Act for posting live videos with the alleged intention of creating public alarm. The alleged incidents occurred between the 15th and 20th of this month. The court has ordered that Tuiteci has to de-activate all his social media accounts, he is not to create any other social media accounts and report to Valelevu Police Station every Friday between 8am to 5pm.

In a statement on Sunday, Permanent Secretary for Health James Fong said that all unnecessary movements should be restricted from Monday onwards, while he urged citizens urged to stay home as much as possible, reports Xinhua news agency. Movement outside home must only be for approved employment purposes, medical purposes or to get groceries.
